Early Evening Jazz: Jackson Peters & Owen Brady
October 17 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Alto saxophonist Owen Brady and guitarist Jackson Peters will perform two sets, rendering a mix of familiar and obscure pieces of jazz repertoire, orchestral excerpts, film scores, and originals.
Jackson Peters is a graduate from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in guitar performance. Known for his range and versatility, he has performed alongside a wide array of notable artists, including Broadway star Jessica Vosk and internationally renowned pianist Bill Carrothers. Peters has been an active force in the Twin Cities local music scene—from jazz and improvisational ensembles, to contemporary classical groups and alternative bands.
Owen Brady, now based in the Twin Cities but originally from Rhode Island, is an accomplished saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. His inclination and love for music began at the age of three, and it has continued with curiosity and dedication ever since. He recently earned his degree from Lawrence University in Wisconsin, where he studied under Jose Encarnacion, Bill Carrothers, and Steve Peplin. While at Lawrence, he spent a semester studying with renowned saxophonist Ben van Gelder at the Conservatorium. Owen approaches his music with sensitivity and a deep openness to creation, bridging the connection between audience and sound.
